Rising Sun, Peaceful Moon
This sculptural lamp is built from a combination of repurposed materials, each drawn from a different context. One glass globe is supported by an upside-down faucet, the other by the curved neck of a saxophone. A copper pan from a balance scale forms the circular backdrop, giving the piece a centered, symmetrical structure. The piece carries a subtle Art Deco sensibility in its curves and materials, but its logic is improvisational, almost musical.
Originally, each part had a specific function—plumbing, music, measurement—but in this arrangement they serve a different purpose. The faucet no longer carries water, the saxophone no longer produces sound, and the scale no longer measures. Instead, they work together to hold and shape light. Visually, the piece carries echoes of Art Deco in its curves and materials, but the playful use of found parts—an inverted faucet, a saxophone neck—introduces a Dada-like sensibility, where utility is reimagined and function gives way to invention.
