Wall-mounted sculpture with cheese grater, nurse figurine, cascading magnetic tape, Scrabble tiles, and pink bottles in ornate white frame
Nurse Watches Westward

"Nurse Watches Westward" is a layered assemblage that fuses domestic utility with symbolic narrative. At its center, a vintage cheese grater doubles as both armor and relic, adorned with a small figurine of a nurse who appears to gaze stoically to the left—westward, perhaps, as the title implies. The backdrop, a stylized geometric grid with rich textures and subtle gradients, evokes both stained glass and architectural blueprint, intersected by brass pins and wooden Scrabble tiles marked “S” and “K", are the initials of the artist. The hanging Plastic strips made from magnetic recording tape cascade downward like a fringe or a waterfall. Encased in a white ornate frame and topped with three pink apothecary-style bottles, the piece becomes a meditation on care, femininity, boundaries, and the tension between function and reverence.
