Wall-mounted assemblage with painted portrait, piano keys, bold wooden letters, brush, hanger, and lit film strip on repurposed washboard frame
National 511

"National 511" is a vibrant assemblage that blends nostalgia, showmanship, and visual rhythm into a single wall-mounted stage. At its center is a painted portrait of a man—part magician, part carnival barker—whose confident gaze anchors a world of repurposed objects and layered histories. Surrounding him are elements of both spectacle and craft: piano keys, a film strip of tiny frozen moments, a wooden level, and an oversized brush suggesting art as both construction and illusion. The frame of a vintage washboard and a hanger below evoke the domestic and the performative, while bold wooden letters and softly glowing lights add the sense of a forgotten sign or sideshow marquee. "National 511" invites viewers to decode its collage of memory, artifice, and invention, as if peering backstage at a cabinet of curiosities.
