Light sculpture in ornate cast-iron frame with layered plastic and negatives lit from behind
Les Pelicans

Les Pélicans is a light sculpture built within the cast-iron frame of a French space heater, its original function replaced by an unexpected play of light and reflection. Twin pelicans frame a circular window, behind which light passes through layers of molded plastic and a salvaged medical negative. The materials catch and scatter the light, producing patterns that shift between sharp edges and soft color. Like other works in this series, Les Pélicans explores how discarded objects can be brought back into focus—reworked not just for their form, but for the layered associations they carry: warmth, history, and the tension between function and ornament.
