FishTrap
This sculpture began as a traditional fishtrap, designed so that fish would swim upward into the conelike structure at its center and become trapped in the surrounding chamber. The original construction includes a removable top, used to retrieve the catch. Though built for function, the form carries an unmistakable aesthetic presence—elegant, balanced, and precise in its construction. The artist added only light and paper to refract and diffuse a soft interior glow—subtle interventions that reveal what was already there: a striking visual harmony shaped by the hand of its original maker. The form evokes many associations—a guppy, a womb, a torpedo—while preserving the clarity and integrity of its structure. Rooted in the logic of function, its beauty feels less created than revealed.
