Cello with Brass Buttons
Cello with Brass Buttons is a wall-mounted light sculpture built around the outline of a cello, reimagined as a structured, illuminated surface. The body is covered with a grid of polished brass buttons, giving it a decorative and tactile rhythm. Three circular forms—made from copper rings and red translucent plastic—are lit from behind, creating a soft red light that shines through the surface. Diagonal elements cut across the form, made from sections of an old wooden measuring stick, arranged into triangles that add a sense of structure and visual tension. The geometric forms and exposed construction carry a quiet echo of Constructivism, though the materials and tone remain more personal and tactile. As with many works in this series, the piece gives new life and meaning to materials with a history of handwork and precision, turning familiar components into something quietly unexpected.
